Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: How much are the services provided?
A: The services provided are FREE as we bulk bill via medicare using the Child Dental Benefit Schedule (CDBS).
Q: What happens if my child is not eligible through medicare?
A: If you’re not eligible through medicare under the Child Dental Benefit Schedule, your child will receive a complimentary dental screening and an oral health report to take home that will dictate our findings and a suggested treatment plan.
Q: What do I need to do in order for my child to participate in the program?
A: FULLY sign the consent form provided to your child’s kindergarten/childcare and we will see your child on the day we schedule to visit your centre.
Q: What is the next step if my child needs further treatment?
A: Since we do not provide advanced treatment such as fillings/extractions/root canals/crowns for your child, we strongly suggest reaching out to your local community health centre or the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne and booking an appointment to proceed with treatment.
Q: What if my child misses out on the ABCD Dental visit?
A: Unfortunately we cannot revisit your child’s centre unless we are double booked there. Alternatively you can visit your local private dentist/community centre or wait for our six monthly visits. Be sure to communicate with your educators to find out when your next ABCD Dental visit will be.
Q: What happens if your visit is on a day where my child does not attend kindergarten/childcare?
A: Contact the staff at your centre to organise to attend on the day of our visit. We are always welcoming of parents and families attending your child’s dental visit as we can give some insightful information during the visit that can help with improving your child’s oral health.
Q: How can I fill in the form?
A: Staff at your child’s centre will print our paper consent forms that can be filled in. Alternatively, click on the ‘Register a patient’ section of our website and fill in the form that way. There will also be a QR code that can be scanned and filled in on an information card that can found around your child’s school/centre.
